Family a Fair

When the six Tri-Cities Kiwanis Clubs started planning our community's first Family-a-Fair in 1993, we had no idea that:

  • nearly 70-thousand people would attend the he first six years.

  • we would have a petting zoo.

  • we would average more than 120 exhibits each year.

  • we would have contributed more than $25,000 to local youth organizations for helping put on.

  • the event.

  • we would set the standard as a cool place to volunteer.

  • we would meet so many nice people and have so much fun with kids of all ages.

  • we should see the Family-a Fair Story Bus on a regular bus route.

The Family-a-Fair Story Bus carries the message, "Read to Your Child" in English and Spanish. The painted bus is a 2000- Year of Our Children partnership that includes Ben Franklin Transit, Flour Hanford, HAMTC, The Reading Foundation, The Washington Reading Corps, The Department of Energy, and Paint and Equipment Supply.

We salute the hundreds of Kiwanis who work to make Family-a-Fair a success each year through contributions of time, talent, expertise, and just plain hard work. Thank you, Kiwanians.
